The Foundation of BNH Livestock
"Berry" Cow FamilyThe "Berry" line is a very maternal line that we have retained many females from and they only continue to get better and better with age. We purchased Strawberry 55T from Valley Gelbvieh as a bred heifer and she left her mark in our herd with various females retained. . The Berry line is known for outstanding udder quality, heavy milking, moderate birthweights and ample growth and thickness. A line that we have really come to appreciate for their ability to create those offspring that stand out with high fertility, always breeding back at the front of the group and weaning calves at the top of the pen.

"Angel" Cow Family(pictured 14 years old) Angel 2L is a cow that has been with BNH Livestock since before the beginning. From 4h shows to National shows, she did it all and in her show career she was rarely any lower than Reserve Champion, 2001 she was awarded Reserve National Champion Heifer calf. This line has a solid foot and leg structure that is really hard to fault. They carry amply spring of rib and clean throughout their front end. It can not be ignored that longevity is also in this line as she was productive up until the age of 14 when we lost her due to hip injury.

"Anita" Cow Family(pictured 16 years old) Anita 124J is another cow that has longevity stamped all over her. 124J is a maternal sib to Freedom 178F, a direct daughter of BB Miss 61Y and Black Image 31Y. This line is one that became well known for how sound they are on their feet and legs, clean fronted, small teat diameter and easy calving they are. They are ones that you could easily classify as being "low maintenance" as they really did not require any assistance and always brought in an impressive calf come fall.

"Labamba" Cow FamilyLabamba 27U is a balancer female that was purchased from the Unger Land and Livestock dispersal sale as a heifer and she has been a stand out in our pasture ever since. The amount of broodiness and overall capacity is hard to look past. She is sound on her feet and legs, disposition is great, udder is nicely set and a cow that is hard to truly represent the overall capacity in a photo. Her daughters have gone on to create those "tanky" offspring as well which is a true testimony to solid genetics.

"Halo" Cow FamilyHalo family is a cow family that you have to appreciate for how structurally correct, easy fleshing, clean fronted and deep ribbed they are. This line is hetero black and one that will stand out every time you walk in the field. Offspring has gone to various purebred herds and have been shown very successfully across the country, this just goes to show the style and yet functionality that the Halo family carries.
Prada 53W Cow FamilyPrada was purchased Brittain Farms after admiring her since a heifer calf, she is one that we are excited to get some more females out of as we have seen what she is capable of producing in the Brittain Farms herd. 53W is a direct daughter of RWG Target 7102 who left a very positive influence on the maternal aspect of Brittain Farms program. Prada is easy fleshing, sound on her feet and legs, has a big square hip on her and spring of rib that we like to see in our females.

"Summer" Cow Family"Summer" is a deep bodied 3/4 blood balancer cow that we purchased in 2017. She is a female that we felt fit in very well in our herd and was a good compliment to many of the current cow families that we have. With her maternal lines going back to well known Angus blood lines such as Future Direction and other big names such as Gold Star Polled 5D and Cocoa on the top side. When you combine her genetic value, smooth made, easy calving structure with her depth of rib she is a female that we are excited to add to our program and build on in our herd.

Armani 30A Cow FamilyThe 30A cow family is one that has always been known for being super thick, showing impressive muscle expression and ample milk production. Armani comes from a cow family that we purchased out of the Brittain Farms herd and have not looked back since. The 88Y daughters are ones that never disappoint and Armani for sure follows that pattern. Her temperament is second to none and a cow that we think very highly of as she is quickly becoming one of those no miss cows that we have retained multiple females from. Her Peterbilt daughter was named the 2016 Champion Balancer Female as a heifer calf.

"Barbie" Cow FamilyBarbie is one that you have to stop and admire every time that you step into the pasture, she has "front pasture cow" written all over her. From her big, sound foot, her awesome teat and udder structure, clean front and overall thickness she is one that is hard to pass by. Not to mention she is super docile and easy to get along with! We are super excited for the potential that Barbie has and what she has to offer in our herd.
