About BNH Livestock

Welcome to BNH Livestock, a family run operation near Innisfail, AB. Brad and Nicole both grew up on family farms and have since grown a family of their own, with four boys every day is an adventure and that is how everyone likes it. Nicole grew up near Falun, AB with her parents Kelly and Colleen Brittain and showed purebred cattle in both 4H as well as at various provincial shows. Brittain Farms is still a large influence in BNH Livestock and they still sell bulls in conjunction with them at the annual Gelbvieh Advantage Bull Sale, the second Friday in March. Brad grew up near Red Deer, AB and grew up showing and selling purebred Angus seedstock with his family.

BNH Livestock was established in 2010 and has since grown to what it is today. BNH is comprised of approximately 30 to 35 purebred Gelbvieh cows, and constantly looking to improve on those genetics, focusing on quality, not quantity. The focus is to make the farm life work for us and to work with our lifestyle. We also run a small herd of purebred Nubian goats which we are super excited about this adventure as it is something new to us. Our kids are highly involved in the day to day activities of the farm and so we base a lot of our focus on making sure that our animals are adjusted well and easy to work with. We run our animal base solely on our home quarter and do intense pasture grazing on 40 acres with the remainder of the quarter being hayed for winter feed, in doing this we are rotating our animals every 3-5 days in to a new paddock and they know the system quite well. We have worked hard to get where we are today and we are excited about where our cow herd is heading as well as what is in store for us with our goat herd.

We pride ourselves on having easy fleshing, maternal, docile animals that are low maintenance and functional animals. Our small cow herd is very near and dear to us and they have to meet strict standards or they do not stick around long. Our cattle are not fed for show ring use and we believe in slow growing to allow for proper growth and development leading to longevity and soundness.

Please feel free to contact us or stop in to tour the cow herd or if you would like any more information on our program.
